چکیده

Since the fruits and leaves of Olive (Olea europea) tree, which grows naturally in Mediterranean countries, are thought to be beneficial for many diseases, it is widely used folk medicine these countries. leaf extract has been treatment diseases such as malaria, high fever, heart cancer. The greater wax moth Galleria mellonella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) frequently invertebrate immunity studies due its similarity mammalian natural immune system. Melanization occurs when quinone precursors converted melanin inactive profenoloxidase phenoloxidase enzyme. In this study, activity G. hemolymph larvae injected with olive different doses was determined by ELISA microplate reader at 492 nm absorbance. findings obtained from study showed that increased a dose 0.001 mg mL-1. Lower mL-1 did not cause changes compared untreated Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO) groups. highest our 0.01 survive 24 hours over those doses. results show supports humoral responses low

The effect of Galleria mellonella hemolymph polypeptides on Legionella gormanii.

Among Legionella species, which are recognized to be pathogenic for humans, L. gormanii is the second prevalent causative agent of community-acquired pneumonia after L. pneumophila. Anti-L. gormanii activity of Galleria mellonella hemolymph extract and apolipophorin III (apoLp-III) was examined. The extract and apoLp-III at the concentration 0.025 mg/ml caused 75% and 10% decrease of the bacter...

Anti-Listeria activities of Galleria mellonella hemolymph proteins.

We report the use of antimicrobial hemolymph proteins from the model host Galleria mellonella as an inhibitor for various Listeria strains, providing a novel source for antilisterial therapeutics. We also have shown that specific virulence-associated genes known to mediate antimicrobial resistance of Listeria in mammalian models indicated a similar function in Galleria.

New to Galleria mellonella

EditoriAL Pathogens and their respective hosts interact closely leading to the host–pathogen framework response that could result in different outcomes that range from pathogen elimination to death of the host. To improve our ability to propose new measures that promote pathogen elimination and prevent host death, we need to have a comprehensive understanding of this interaction. Generally , mo...

Purification and characterization of eight peptides from Galleria mellonella immune hemolymph.

Defense peptides play a crucial role in insect innate immunity against invading pathogens. From the hemolymph of immune-challenged greater wax moth, Galleria mellonella (Gm) larvae, eight peptides were isolated and characterized. Purified Gm peptides differ considerably in amino acid sequences, isoelectric point values and antimicrobial activity spectrum. Five of them, Gm proline-rich peptide 2...

Effect of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Elastase B on Level and Activity of Immune Proteins/Peptides of Galleria mellonella Hemolymph

Abstract Susceptibility of proteins and peptides present in immune hemolymph of Galleria mellonella Fabricius (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) larvae to proteolytic degradation by purified elastase B of Pseudomonas aeruginosa was studied. Results showed that apoLp-III protein was gradually digested by elastase B in vitro. Additionally, polipeptides with molecular mass 6.5 and 4 kDa were degraded afte...
